Recognition Requests
Recognition requests are provided at the discretion of the City. Submit your request using the request form three weeks before the event date.

The following is a brief explanation of requests and criteria:
Commendation
Official decree awarded for exemplary service to the City of Palmdale.
Awarded to: Local resident; organization; business; dignitaries; Councilmembers; Committee/Commission/Board members; scouts who have obtained the highest honors (Eagle Scout, Gold Award); acts of heroism as defined by police, fire, etc. persons who, at the discretion of the Mayor deserve a commendation.
Proclamations
Generally, to proclaim a day, week or month in honor of an event or activity promoting the health, welfare, or heritage of the community (e.g., American Red Cross Month, Ride to Work Week, Arbor/Earth Day).
Certificates
Certificates are awarded to businesses, local residents and organizations. Request a certificate when plaques, commendations, proclamations, etc. are not appropriate due to the number of persons that have already received commendations.
Certificates express appreciation for exemplary service to the City of Palmdale, for a special achievement (e.g., ribbon cutting, retiring public servants; persons who, at the discretion of the Mayor, deserve a certificate for their community contribution; anniversary; significant birthday; U.S. Armed Forces member who has provided special service; schools named California Distinguished Schools or National Blue Ribbon Schools, etc.).
Plaques
Awarded to outgoing presidents of boards at annual installations.
