Artist: Reva MattsonLocation: Development Services lobby, 38250 Sierra Highway
Palmdale, CA 93550
In 2006, the City commissioned artist Reva Mattson to create four seasonal paintings that could be reproduced and displayed around town as street banners. The four paintings — Lilacs, Blake and Laura’s Roses, Day Lilies and Holly Berries —showcased beautiful floral blooms that are indigenous to the local area. The original paintings can be viewed in the lobby of the City’s Development Services building during normal operating hours.
The distinct style of Mattson’s portraits, still lives, and streetscapes are vividly painted in a colorful palette with generous strokes, and bold contrasts. She tries to create paintings that reflect the influence of her own inspiration in a representational and expressive technique, bringing a colorful and off kilter perspective and excitement to the canvas.
