[ARCHIVED] Palmdale Playhouse Offers Summer Theatre Camps

 The Palmdale Playhouse, located at 38334 10th St. East in Palmdale, is offering two summer theatre camp experiences for youth.

The Junior Summer Theatre Camp, designed for youth ages 9 through 11, will run from June 13 to July 24, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The cost for the program is discounted to $140 for Palmdale residents and $175 for non-residents.  Registration begins May 1 and is available at www.PlayPalmdale.com. Search for “Junior Summer Theatre Camp.”

Students will learn and practice core theatre skills, such as stage presence, vocal projection, and more. The camp is appropriate for all levels of experience. It will end with a live performance of The Day Aliens Attacked Fairfield: The Town Where Nothing Ever Happens by Stephen Frankenfield, produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc.

The Summer Theatre Experience, designed for youth ages 13 through 17, will run from July 11 to July 29, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The cost for the program is discounted to $250 for Palmdale residents and $312.50 for non-residents.  Registration begins May 1 and is available at www.PlayPalmdale.com. Search for “Summer Theatre Experience.”

During this fun-packed three-week camp, students will learn acting and character work, how to make props, and work on the set. Students will work together to bring the stage production of Bedtime Stories (As Told by My Dad) (Who Messed Them Up) to life. Written by Ed Monk. Produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.

High school students can earn five credits upon completion of this program.
