Applications Open for Second Applied Positive Psychology Certificate Program

PALMDALE – The City, in partnership with The Wellbeing Lab, is excited to announce the opening of applications for the second cohort of the Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) program. The cohort will be comprised of up to 50 Antelope Valley community leaders, set to begin in late April 2023 and run through the end of the year.

To apply and hear from past participants visit Scholarships offered through the City’s Leadership Antelope Valley Initiative, a project of Palmdale Cares.

Two 45-minute virtual information sessions will be offered on March 16 at 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. Both sessions may be accessed at

Whether you’re a business leader in the Antelope Valley, a school official, a mental, physical, or emotional healthcare practitioner, or a passionate community member wanting to help your region thrive, our CAPP Certification has been designed for you to gain confidence, motivation, and impact in that work. CAPP provides personal and professional development in one.

“This new cohort will be extremely beneficial to all the residents of Palmdale and throughout the Antelope Valley as we focus on creating a happy and healthier environment while mentally and physically working together to create a thriving Community,” said Mayor Laura Bettencourt. “The previous cohort showed enormous success and we look forward to the engagement and success of this new cohort. The CAPP cohort helps people learn and utilize tools to help them strive through challenging times.”

CAPP participants are expected to come open to connecting, learning, and growing. They will complete pre-work, attend the live training classes (one and a half days per month) and virtual coaching sessions (most Wednesday evenings), and participate in the pay-it-forward challenges and impact project.
