Peace Together Art Refresh at DryTown Water Park

WHAT:                       Peace Together public art installation at DryTown Water Park will be repainted.

WHEN:                      Saturday, May 13, 8 am-3 pm

WHERE:                    DryTown Water Park

                                  3850-B E. Ave. S, Palmdale, CA 93550

WHO:                        George Davis, Public Art Program Manager

WHY:                         The Public Art Commission made a recommendation to refresh the Peace Together installation which, after two years of active summer programming, has lost some of its luster. The goal is to refresh the installation prior to the water park’s opening, scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. Volunteers have been coordinated for this event.

BACKGROUND:        In April 2021, volunteers came out to Oasis Park to paint the crosswalks near DryTown Water Park with an interlocking rainbow pattern as part of the City’s Peace Together public art installation. The initiative aimed to engage the community in a project to bring color and beauty to otherwise ordinary crosswalks, and was a unique partnership between Dunn Edwards Paints, the City, and our residents.

VISUALS:                  Community volunteers painting an interlocking rainbow pattern on the crosswalks at the roundabout in front of DryTown Water Park.
