The Palmdale City Library, located at 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., will host “Thinkshop,” a STEAM program on Tuesday, Dec. 10 from 4 to 5 p.m. It is free and geared to youth ages 5-11.
“Do you want to build a gingerbread house and learn at the same time?” asked Program Coordinator Janet McLagan. “Join us for some tasty fun. We’ll use graham crackers, frosting and M&Ms.”
STEAM is about using Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics in a playful, fun and hands on environment. It is a chance to get creative and thinking outside the box. It allows students to connect their learning in these critical areas together with arts practices, elements, design principles, and standards to provide the whole pallet of learning at their disposal. It gives kids hands on experience and allows them to learn from failures and keep trying until they understand.
The Library hosts its STEAM program on the second Tuesday of the month from 4 to 5 pm.
