Celebrate the Newest Inclusive Park and We-Go-Swing® Play Feature
PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale invites the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Palmdale’s newest playground on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 10 am. The event will occur at Palmdale Oasis Park, located at 3850 E. Ave S.
The newly constructed 10,000-square-foot playground is a highly anticipated amenity with inclusive equipment for all ages and abilities. There are multiple play structures with over 40 play elements for children to explore, climb, swing, slide, and more. Notably, it includes a wheelchair-accessible We-Go-Swing®, which allows kids of all abilities to play together and experience the thrill of swinging. The We-Go-Swing® eliminates the need for transfer, opening up a new world of playground fun.
“I am excited to finally see this playground added to Palmdale Oasis Park near the recreation center and DryTown Water Park,” shared Palmdale Mayor Laura Bettencourt. “Now families living nearby have a playground they can walk, bike, or wheel to and inclusively play, thanks to Measure AV funding.”
The Forma™ Alpine® Slide is an additional play feature that makes sliding more inclusive with an easy-to-traverse belting ramp to reach the slide with upper body strength and then swoop back down to the ground along the slide’s banking curve. An accessible table and seats underneath the slide add bonus play to the space.
More unique features for those with sensory needs include two “Fox Den Hangouts,” which offer kids a place to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy playground with comfortable seats in two sizes to sit back and relax while enjoying the gentle rocking motion in a visual and tactile environment.
This imaginative playground’s color scheme and style are a nod to DryTown’s style and design. It offers two play areas, one for children aged 2 to 5 years and the second for children aged 5 to 12. Additional enhancements include a picnic table, trash cans, and an ADA-accessible concrete sidewalk.
