Monday, January 6 

Kindness Rocks4 pm. Bringing the community together to spread kindness by painting rocks for others to find. Paint and rocks are provided. Free admission, open to all ages.


Suicide Prevention6:30 pm. Presented by LA County Mental Health.

 

Tuesday, January 7, 14, 21 & 28

Legal Aid for Low Income Individuals3 to 6 pm. Services provided by the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles by appointment only. Call the Library at 267-5600 to schedule.


Wednesday, January 8

Midweek Movies5:30 pm. Aladdin  (2019), rated PG. Free admission, open to all ages.

 

Friday, January 10

Game Night & Karaoke, 5:30 pm. Board games, karaoke machine, fun for all ages! Bring your family and friends for an evening of fun and games.

 

 

Monday, January 13

Suicide Prevention/Prevencion de Suicidio6:30 pm. Presented by LA County Mental Health. Presentacion en Español.


Tuesday, January 14

Coffee & Coloring for Adults, 10 am. We provide the coffee and coloring supplies, you provide the conversation and creativity.


Preschool Storytime, 1 pm. Ages 3–5 with Miss Shay.


STEAM Thinkshop, 4 pm. Ages 5 to 11. Enjoy activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics in a “hands on” environment.


Wednesday, January 15

Toddler Storytime, 9:15 and 10:15 am (2 sessions) with Miss Shay. Ages 12-36 months.

 

Midweek Movies5:30 pm. Bend It Like Beckham (2002), rated PG-13. Free admission, open to all ages.


Thursday, January 16

Budget Class6 pm. Learn how to budget with Tim Rosen, founder and CEO of Financial Compass Investment Services, Inc. in this free program. Open to anyone age 16 and over.

 

Teen Geek Club4:30 pm. A safe space to geek out about your favorite things. Ages 12-17.

 

Friday, January 17

Paint, Draw, Create 2 pm. Art class for all ages with Juanita McWilliams. Flex your artistic muscles and unleash your creativity as we paint/draw spring. All ages welcome.

Bilingual Storytime, 10 am. All ages, with Miss Maria.

 

Saturday, January 18 & 25 

Baby & Me Lapsit9:30 am. Ages 0-18 months.

Wii U Tournament, 4 pm to 5:30 pm. Come play video games. Open to all.


African American Authors Book Club, 6:45 pm. Join us the third Tuesday of every month at 6:45 pm in the Local History Room. All are welcome!

Yoga6 pm. Free yoga session led by the local yoga studio “The Yoga Roots.” Please bring your yoga mat and plan to arrive no later than 10 minutes after class begins. Open to anyone age 16 and over.

Classic Book Club, 4 pm to 5:30 pm.


Tuesday, January 28 

Preschool Storytime, 1 pm. Ages 3–5 with Miss Shay.

 

Books and Barks, 3:30 pm to 5 pm. Build your kids’ reading skills by letting them read to friendly, non-judgmental dogs in one of our most popular events.

Toddler Storytime, 9:15 and 10:15 am (2 sessions) with Miss Shay. Ages 12-36 months.

 

Midweek Movies5:30 pm. Toy Story 4 (2019) G. Free admission, open to all ages.

Storycrafters 3:30 am. Enjoy a story and craft for ages 5-9.



At the Parks 


Daily, January 6 through Saturday, Feb. 1 - Domenic Massari & Marie Kerr Parks 

Monday – Friday 3 pm to 7 pm Saturday and Sunday 9 am to 5 pm. Park staff provides outdoor recreation fun for families and youth of all ages. On special days, park staff may set-up field days with obstacle courses, 3-on-3 tournaments on the basketball courts, or go on a scavenger hunt! Our goal is to create an inviting, playful environment for all. Please check in at either park to participate in the day’s activity. Free ball rentals and board games available upon request. 


 

 

Wednesday, January 15 – Palmdale Oasis Park & Marie Kerr Recreation Centers

BINGO for kids, 5 to 6 pm. Yeti to Party? Come play free themed bingo and get the chance to win free prizes. This month’s theme staff will have an Abominable Snowman bingo party, and celebrate the winter season the yeti way!  Ages 6-10. *Youth must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited, first come, first served.



Saturday, January 18 - Marie Kerr Park Community Building

AV Gem and Mineral Club, 1 to 4 pm- The City of Palmdale is partnering with the AV Gem and Mineral Club in presenting free educational and recreational fun that surrounds our everyday life.  Members from the club will share their knowledge, experiences, and answer your questions.  Families are encouraged to attend.


Monday, January 27 – Palmdale Oasis Park & Marie Kerr Recreation Centers                          

Bunsen & Beaker Mondays, 5 to 6 pm. Love science? So do we!  Join us and discover how to make fluffy slime! Ages 8-10.  *Youth must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited, first come, first served.

Housing Rights Legal Clinic NLSLA, 9 am to 12 pm at SAVES, 1002 E Ave Q-12.  The NLSLA team provides free assistance to individuals and families dealing with Reentry; clear your adult criminal record; fix errors on background reports; if your professional license is denied or revoked; understand your employment rights and new Fair Chance Hiring Laws. Free Legal Help for homeowners & tenants; issues with fair housing, eviction or homelessness, Section 8 issues, rent increases and unsafe living conditions. Walk-ins are welcome or call 1-800-433-6251 to make an appointment or speak with an in-take advocate.
