The Palmdale City Library’s Mystery Book Club “Murder, Mystery & Mayhem” will discuss the book The Chalk Circle Man by French historian and novelist Frédérique Audoin-Rouzeau, writing under the pseudonym Fred Vargas, on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 7 pm in the Chimbole Cultural Center, 38350 Sierra Highway.
Originally published in 1991, The Chalk Circle Man is the first book in a series following Commissaire Jean-Baptiste Adamsberg, a detective known for solving big cases who does not rely on deductive reasoning. Recently transferred to Paris, Adamsberg’s different approach to detective work leads him to clash with his new partner, Inspector Adrien Danglard, and the two must learn to work together to find a murderer who leaves behind chalk circles drawn on the streets.
The Murder, Mystery and Mayhem Mystery Book Discussion Group meets the third Wednesday of the month at 7 pm in the Chimbole Cultural Center. The group is open to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.
