Although still closed to walk-in services, the Palmdale City Library will kick off its Summer Reading program, an eight-week self-paced program where kids, teens, and adults can earn prizes for reading.
Registration is available online at https://palmdaleslp.lsslibraries.com/ . The program will run June 8 through July 31.
“Our Summer Reading Program is for everyone---kids, teens, and adults,” said Youth Librarian Jacqueline Seekamp. “This year, reading will be both fun and rewarding as we’ll be giving out prizes.”
Participants in the program will be able to log in the time they have spent reading to receive badges and raffle entries for prizes.
“For some light-hearted fun, readers will potentially win a chance to ‘pie’ Library Director Robert Shupe in the face,” Seekamp said.
The Summer Reading program is made possible by the generosity and hard work of the Friends of the Palmdale City Library.
The Palmdale City Library is currently open for phone reference only and by appointment for holds pickup. Hours of phone operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 5 pm and Friday from 10 am to 4 pm.
