The City of Palmdale has announced the music line-up for the Tapestry stage at the fourth annual Kaleidoscope Music & Art Festival, coming to the Palmdale Amphitheater, 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd., on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 am to 6 pm. Admission and parking are free.
Performing on the Tapestry stage will be the zydeco sounds of Grammy® nominee Lisa Haley & The Zydecats, ukulele artist Jason Arimoto, reggae/pop group ReLoVe, classical Spanish/Flamenco artist Battista, and Latin jazz artist Louie Cruz Beltran.
“This year’s Tapestry stage musical lineup expands upon the breadth and depth of the musical experience,” said Palmdale’s Communications Manager John Mlynar. “It’s a truly universal roster of sounds and talent that will transform the stage into a musical extravaganza for all to enjoy.”
- Kaleidoscope Music & Art Festival is a unique event dedicated to the arts, both visual and performing. Since forming in 1995, nationally known Lisa Haley & the Zydekats are the most joyful Americana/Cajun/Zydeco band on tour today. A fourth-generation fiddler and three octave vocalist, Lisa began performing at age four. Her ancestors arrived in Roddy Bayou, Louisiana in 1718, and they’ve been fiddling ever since.
Lisa Haley & the Zydekats have performed in more than 20 countries and have toured and/or recorded with multi-Grammy winner/producer KebMo', Sir George Martin, Queen Ida, Rockin' Sydney, Joe Simien, Brian Setzer, John Hiatt, Randy Newman, Lyle Lovett, Taj Mahal, Little Richard, Dave Koz, Al Rapone and a host of others. Originally from Hawai‘i, Jason Arimoto, Ph. D., is a Los Angeles-based ‘ukulele creative with a professional background in ‘ukulele performance, education, and retail. Arimoto performs and teaches across the U.S. and internationally, and is the co-owner of U-SPACE, L.A.’s premier ‘ukulele store and award-winning, full-service community-centered creative arts enterprise.
In addition to teaching undergraduate ‘ukulele studies in Applied Music at Occidental College, he also served as artist faculty in arts institutions across the country.
Arimoto’s studio recordings are featured on: A Brighter Day, an album of original ‘ukulele and vocal compositions; Take On the ‘80s, a collection of ’80s hits re-imagined on ‘ukulele and vocals in the varying styles of blues, reggae, and swing; and JMD, featuring ‘ukulele, bass, and drums on six original reggae/blues/rock compositions.

Los Angeles based, ReLoVe is a reggae soul band sharing a message of hope and love through live music. Singing drummer Glenn Jost drives the rhythmic heartbeat while sharing lead vocals with the beautiful soul of Sonia Harley. Colombian producer keyboardist Victor Bender and guitarist Steve Zukowsky play off the rhythms and harmonies, while bassist Maazi Jay effortlessly solidifies the groove.

Battista grew up in a talented Italian musical family. His father played the accordion in his own band, which exposed him to Latin, Italian, and American jazz standards. At three years old he got his first piano and by the time he was five he would also play the drums to his father’s accordion during rehearsals. At age eleven, and after taking lessons for only six months, Battista began playing the sax at Sicilian weddings in his father’s band.
Eventually, Battista discovered the guitar. He began playing many different genres, including, rock, blues, Top 40, funk and more, which would help develop his unique guitar style.
At nineteen Battista started his own rock band, showcasing at SIR studios in front many major record labels. Soon, Battista began touring all over the United States and internationally playing guitar and saxophone, opening for famous bands like The Beach Boys, The Thompson Twins and B.B. King, to name a few.
After many years of experience in writing and producing many different styles of music in various genres, Battista had a desire to create a unique project of his own. Having used the Nylon Spanish guitar sound in many of his productions of other artists he produced, Battista became increasingly inspired by the Spanish-style guitar.

A charismatic entertainer, singer and master percussionist who has captivated audiences with his dynamic stage presence and wonderful vocals, Beltran’s
musical career was crafted upon the soulful sounds of his ethnic American background and flavored with contemporary R&B, Jazz, Latin Jazz, and Salsa as well as the Great American Songbook. Steeped in music from early childhood, his first memories recall his mother singing gospel music, Mexican and Caribbean folk tunes.
Early in his career, Louie performed with great artists such as Ray Barretto, Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, Francisco Aguabella, and Jorge Claudio. Recently he has performed with legends Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Poncho Sanchez and many other renowned artists. In 2010 he shared the stage with Dave Koz, James Ingram, Patti Austin, Macy Gray and others at the annual Society of Singers Ella Award Presentation at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Today, Louie continues to perform regularly at popular locales including the venerable Catalina’s Jazz Club in Hollywood and Vibrato in Los Angeles; at many hotels and a vast array of jazz festivals, as well as for private and corporate functions. For the last two years Louie has provided the music for the National Hispanic Media Coalition’s Impact Awards gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, as well as entertainment for AltaMed at their annual gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where last year he shared the bill with legendary mariachi artist Pepe Aguilar.
As a motivational speaker, Louie uses his passion and knowledge for music to bring a message of empowerment to disadvantaged youth. He has presented his message of hope and the value of education to students at schools from South Central Los Angeles, to East L.A., to the San Fernando Valley including Casa Esperanza / Blythe Street Project, HOLA (Heart of Los Angeles Youth), Santee Educational Complex, High School, Cathedral High School, and Roosevelt High School, among others.
