[ARCHIVED] Palmdale Recycled Water Authority Accepting Applications for Public Member

The Palmdale Recycled Water Authority (PWRA) is seeking residents interested in serving as a public member on the Board Authority for the calendar year 2021.

To qualify for the position, applicants must live within PRWA boundaries, demonstrate an interest in the use of recycled water, and attend regular board meetings.  The public member, appointed jointly by the Palmdale City Council and Palmdale Water District (PWD), is paid $150 per meeting.  The one-year term is renewable.

The deadline for applications is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22.  Completed applications may be faxed to 661-267-5193, submitted online, emailed to cityclerkdepartment@cityofpalmdale.org, or mailed with postmarked deadline date or delivered to the Office of the City Clerk, 38300 Sierra Highway, Suite C, Palmdale, CA 93550.   Hand delivery can only be made with an appointment.  Applicants are encouraged to include a resume.

A detailed description of duties and responsibilities, PRWA map boundaries, and the application are available at www.cityofpalmdale.org or in the Palmdale City Clerk’s Office.   Information is also available at www.palmdalewater.org.

The public member position is currently filled by Helen Velador, who has served since PRWA’s inception in 2013.  She is not seeking to renew her term.

The City of Palmdale and PWD jointly created PRWA to study, promote, develop, distribute, construct, install, finance, use and manage recycled resources created by the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County Nos. 14 and 20 for various uses, including irrigation and recharge, and to finance the acquisition and construction or installation of recycled water facilities, recharge projects and irrigation systems.  Its first project has been irrigating McAdam Park with recycled water.

The PRWA Board is composed of two members of the Palmdale City Council, two members of the PWD Board of Directors and the Public Member.  The PRWA Board meets at 6 p.m. on the third Monday of the month.
