WHAT: Unveiling of winning poem in the City’s Walk on Words poetry contest.

WHO: Palmdale City Councilmembers; Parks and Recreation staff; first place and honorable mention poetry contest winners.
WHY: To announce and unveil the winning poem in the Walk on Words Contest, which will be stamped in concrete at Yellen Park. Honorable mention winners will also be announced.
BACKGROUND: Participants in the Walk on Words Poetry Contest were asked to craft a poem with the theme “Palmdale Cares.” The contest was free and open to all ages. Poems had to be original compositions, no more than 12 lines long, including title, with a maximum of 35 characters per line, including spaces.
PROTOCOL: The City of Palmdale encourages social distancing and facing covering for all attendees.
